About San Juan Projects
The San Juan Islands are one of the most beautiful places in the Pacific Northwest. Quiet water. Old growth. Towns that still feel like towns. People come here to build a life or build a second home, and when they do, they need contractors who can get the work done.
The problem is finding them.
There are good contractors working on these islands. Licensed, insured, experienced people who do quality work. But demand here outpaces supply. A few thousand residents on each island, a steady flow of property owners looking for help, and a limited pool of tradespeople who can realistically get to the job site by ferry. It adds up fast.
Why We Built This
We have a family property in the San Juans. A few years ago, we needed a straightforward paint job. We called around. Most people never called back. One contractor said they would come take a look, and then didn't.
That experience made it clear: the issue is not that there are bad contractors here. The issue is that there is no central place to see who is available, what they do, and whether they are actually licensed and insured. You end up asking around on Facebook, hoping a friend of a friend knows someone, and crossing your fingers.
San Juan Projects is our attempt to fix that. We built a directory of every licensed contractor we can find who works on the islands. We verify their Washington State registration, their bonding, and their insurance. And if you do not want to do the research yourself, you can tell us about your project and we will match you with up to three contractors who can realistically take it on.
It is free. For homeowners and for contractors. No middleman fees. No lead charges.
What We Care About
These islands are worth taking care of. The people who live here year-round, the homeowners who come back every summer, the contractors who wake up early to catch the ferry. Everyone here is invested in this place.
We want to make it easier for residents and property owners to find the right person for the job. And we want to make it easier for contractors to connect with homeowners who have real projects and real budgets. If we do that well, more projects get done, more homes get taken care of, and the islands stay the kind of place people want to be.
That is the whole idea. Nothing complicated about it.
How It Works
You can browse our contractor directory for free. Every listing shows the contractor's trade, the islands they serve, and their contact information. We have verified each one for active Washington State registration through the Department of Labor and Industries.
If you want help, submit a quote request. Tell us about your project, your timeline, and which island you are on. We will reach out to contractors in our network and connect you with up to three who can take it on. No cost to you. No cost to them.
If we cannot find three contractors for your project, we will be honest about that. We would rather tell you the real timeline than waste your time.
